Improve Postpartum Care in Pittsburgh
Together We can
Selah Pittsburgh provides a curated team of Newborn Care Specialists, International Board Certified Lactation Consultants, a Certified Prenatal Yoga Instructor, and dedicated day and overnight Postpartum Doulas to support parents during those first critical weeks at home.
While these in-home services are vital, they are only the beginning. New parents deserve a more comprehensive support system, yet we cannot wait for the medical industry to catch up and recognize the true value of this care.
With your donation, Selah Pittsburgh can transition from an in-home service provider into a physical respite. Your contribution will allow us to establish a dedicated location where parents can find:
- Community Support: A space to connect with and find strength from one another.
- Professional Care: Access to a full-time staff of Doulas.
- Centralized Resources: A single destination for prenatal education, essential rest, and clinical postpartum recovery care.
Invest in the future of parental wellness today. Your support ensures that no parent has to navigate the transition to parenthood alone.
The Gap
In North America, our medical industry spends roughly 40 weeks preparing parents for labor and delivery, then sends them home to recover in isolation with little to no practical support. Meanwhile, the postpartum period is longer, lasting up to a full year! To call this a gap in care is a kindness, because it's actually negligent to leave families vulnerable during their most transformative time.
Selah Pittsburgh is closing this gap.
Our mission is to catch and care for parents throughout that entire first year by providing comprehensive, non-medical resources in their homes and within our dedicated physical space. We provide the essential support systems parents need to heal and successfully re-establish themselves as individuals and as a family unit.
This proven model of care exists elsewhere, but it is missing in Pittsburgh. With your partnership, we can change that. Join us in building a sustainable community of care where no parent has to recover alone.
Parents Can’t Wait
We are currently pursuing both government and private grants to fund our mission; however, these sources alone cannot cover the full scope of this critical need. We are turning to you, our community, to help us bring about the change in this area that we all know is needed.
With federal paid leave still, somehow, unavailable, many parents are forced to return to work far too soon, sacrificing their health and impeding their recovery. Your donation provides the essential professional and community care they need to recover fully. By contributing, you empower parents to return to work better supported and more resilient.
